About the Campbell River Salmon Festival

Join Cultural Connections as we head north to Campbell River for the 2019 Salmon Festival! With the main industries of Northern Vancouver Island being forestry and fishing - this festival is a tribute to them. The “Logger Sports” event (a heritage sport) depicts the past and present logging practices through entertaining competitions between loggers and is presently one of the largest in Canada for prize money and number of events. Campbell River Salmon Festival is proud to bring back the Highland Gathering to Campbell River and is hoping it will become an annual event at Salmon Fest. This exciting event will run in conjunction with the popular Logging Sports and will consist of Piping & Drumming Competitions, Dance Competitions and Heavy Games.

In keeping with the name, the Salmon Festival will have a Salmon BBQ where festival goers can enjoy a delicious salmon lunch or supper.  There will also be booths and displays with a marine theme. With plenty to keep us busy - it will be a delightful way to learn something new and undoubtedly have plenty of laughs!
