Online Basic Korean
This class is an introduction to Korean alphabets, grammar, and culture for students who have no (or very limited) prior knowledge of Korean. The goal of the course is to provide a foundation that will enable students to acquire and develop integrated skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing in Korean. The process of learning these skills will develop the
student’s ability to communicate in real-life situations based on basic Korean level.
It is an online synchronous course, which means we will meet for regular class sessions online via Zoom. Your presence and
active participation are required and important for creating the most effective learning experience.

Dates: August 31, 2023 to December 14, 2023

- Nomination deadline: August 18, 2023
All student must be nominated by their home university before applying to ‘Online Basic Korean’ course. The SWU program
coordinator will invite students by email to submit their applications after receiving their nomination.
Student Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Read and write Korean alphabets
- Read and comprehend simple, written texts
- Engage in basic conversations of daily life topics such as greetings, time, numbers, etc.
- Acquire knowledge and understanding about the core grammar patterns and expressions of the Korean language
